Point a GoDaddy domain at your church website

Do this

1. 1Publish your site first. Your old site disappears once this takes effect.
2. 2Sign in at godaddy.com → My Products → Domains → your domain → DNS.
3. 3Find the row: type A, name @. Edit it — do not add a second. Paste our value into Points to. Save.
4. 4Find the row: type CNAME, name www. Edit it the same way. Save.
5. 5Back to the domain screen. It says Live on its own.

3 traps

• Edit, do not addTwo A rows named @ send visitors to the wrong place about half the time.
• Different wordsGoDaddy says Host for name and Points to for value. Leave TTL alone.
• Website BuilderIf a GoDaddy site is attached to this domain, disconnect it first or it puts the old rows back.

Do not touch

MX · TXT · nameservers. MX is your church email — often Microsoft 365 bought through GoDaddy. Deleting one stops mail silently.

Not working

• Over an hour, still not LiveLook for a second A row named @. Delete the one that is not ours.
• One address works, not the otherOne row did not save.
• "Not secure" warningNormal for a short while. Tell us if it lasts past Live.
• Old site still showingYour browser remembering. Try it on your phone, off wifi.
• Email stoppedAn MX row was edited. Tell us, do not keep changing.
